A Walk in The Woods

My first lesson came as I walked down my favorite trail today. I was reminded of how similar it is to walking the spiritual trail. Along the trails there are signs and markers to keep us on the trail so that we do not get lost. In the same way God places signs along the spiritual walk to keep us on the straight and narrow way. Sometimes the signs or trails are unclear and we rake a wrong turn; but thankfully God is always there to lead us back to the right path. While I continued down the trail I knew I had nothing to fear because God was walking right beside me. He gently placed his arm around my shoulders drawing me close and said, "Daughter, you do not need to be afraid-I'll never leave you alone; lean on me-I'll never let you fall". These were the words of encouragement and comfort I needed to hear. When I first entered the trail I brought a heavy load; a burden to great for me to bear alone. I continued to walk, and began to lay everything at the throne of Christ. I cried out to God expressing my pain and broken heart knowing that he could heal me. I heard him say, "Daughter, give everything to me and be free of your burden; give me your broken heart and I will mend it". As my walk came to an end and I left the trail, my soul was flooded with peace and my spirits were lifted as I left my burdens behind me. No matter how many times I am knocked down-I will rise again!
